The Food Gatherer's Note: If you aren't keen on kale, then I dare you to try these chips, it could just change your mind. Even the kids will devour them, honest! You could experiment and try other spices, such as cumin and chili or keep it simple with sea salt. Emma :)
FIVE SPICE KALE CHIPS
Ingredients:
250g Kale
A teaspoon of Chinese 5 Spice
A pinch of cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Sea salt
To Prepare:
Preheat the oven to 170 degrees
Remove the thicker stems from the kale chips and break or cut into small bite size pieces.
Wash the kale, then pat dry with a teatowel.
In a large mixing bowl add the olive oil and spices then blend. Add the kale and stir through the oil until well coated.
Lay the kale across a baking sheet. There must only be a single layer, not too close together (as you don't want it to steam) so if necessary use 2 trays.
Bake in the heated oven for 15-20 minutes until crispy.
Transfer to a serving bowl, sprinkle with sea salt and enjoy!
